Materials and approach

Patios and hard surfaces

We work with natural sandstone, porcelain, Indian stone and reconstituted products depending on budget and style. For Yorkshire properties, natural sandstone tends to sit best with the character of the house and garden — the warm tones age well and the texture works with the landscape rather than against it. We'll advise on the right material for your situation when we quote.

Turf and lawn establishment

New lawns require proper groundwork — levels, drainage, topsoil depth and seed preparation or turf laying done at the right time of year. We don't cut corners on groundwork because a lawn that settles unevenly or drains poorly is a problem you'll have permanently. Done properly it's straightforward; done quickly it causes problems for years.

Sloped gardens and level changes

Yorkshire gardens frequently involve slopes and changes of level — something we're experienced with. Stone steps, retaining elements and tiered planting areas need both good engineering and a sympathetic aesthetic.
