Planting & border work across Harrogate & Yorkshire

Well-planted borders are what separate a maintained garden from a genuinely beautiful one. CPW Gardens carries out border re-edging, seasonal planting, mulching and bed preparation across Harrogate and Yorkshire for homeowners who want their garden to look its best.

We work with established gardens that need refreshing and new borders being created from scratch. We'll advise on what works for your soil, aspect and existing planting before we do anything — the right plants in the right conditions thrive; the wrong ones struggle regardless of care.

What we do

  • Border re-edging — crisp, clean lines between lawn and bed
  • Seasonal planting — spring and summer bedding, perennials, shrubs
  • Mulching — bark, compost and organic mulch application
  • Bed preparation — digging, soil improvement and weed clearance
  • New border creation alongside landscaping or lawn work
  • Bulb planting for seasonal colour
  • Weeding and ongoing border maintenance
  • Advice on planting schemes suited to your garden's conditions

Border re-edging — why it matters

A re-edged border is one of the most visible improvements you can make to a garden. The clean line between lawn and bed gives structure, makes the planting look more intentional, and is the first thing visitors notice. It's also one of the things that degrades fastest without regular attention — grass encroaches, the edge blurs, and within a season a well-planted border starts to look tired.

We re-edge borders as part of our garden maintenance programme and as standalone work for gardens that need bringing back. The difference is immediate and significant.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to plant?+
It depends on what you're planting. Spring (March–May) is ideal for most perennials and hardy annuals. Late summer and autumn is good for bulbs and many shrubs. We'll advise on timing when we discuss your garden.
Do you supply plants as well as plant them?+
Yes. We can source and supply plants as part of the job, or work with plants you've already purchased. We'll advise on what we think will work best for your conditions.
Can you re-edge existing borders or do you need to start from scratch?+
Both. Re-edging an existing border is often all that's needed to transform how a garden looks. We assess what's there first and recommend the most practical approach.
Do you also do ongoing maintenance of planted borders?+
Yes — see our Garden Maintenance service for ongoing scheduled visits that include border care as standard.
